BerthaPalmerBertha Palmer, nee Honore, is an important figure in the history of Sarasota, Florida?. After the death of her husband, Chicago businessman Potter Palmer, she took on the management of his substantial estate and invested heavily in the then Manatee County, Florida. A portion of her land was used for farming, and although celery was not planted in the area until after her 1918 death, several hundred acres of that farmland later came to be known as the Celery Fields.
